Fleetio Alternatives for Equipment-Heavy Fleets

Fleetio is a mature, well-liked fleet maintenance platform, and for on-road and light mixed fleets it is a strong default. Most teams who look elsewhere do so for one of three reasons: per-asset pricing that climbs as the fleet grows, heavy equipment workflows that feel bolted on rather than native, or the need for parts procurement inside the maintenance workflow rather than alongside it.

Switching is the easy part

Import from Fleetio in minutes

Already running Fleetio? Torgix brings your whole account over: no rebuild, no spreadsheet surgery, no lost history.

Fleetio users can skip the export entirely: connect your Fleetio API keys and Torgix pulls your vehicles and service history in one click.

Re-running an import is always safe: duplicates are matched, never doubled.

By what you need

The alternatives, by what problem you are actually solving

If you need telematics and tracking in the same system

Samsara is the most common answer when live GPS, dash cams, and ELD compliance matter as much as maintenance. Hardware is included in the ecosystem, so you are not integrating a separate tracking vendor. Maintenance is capable but shallower than a dedicated CMMS. Best for mixed on-road fleets where safety and compliance drive the purchase.

Tenna is built specifically for construction: yellow iron, trucks, tools, and attachments on one platform, with telematics and maintenance connected. Note that Tenna was acquired by John Deere (announced January 2026, closed February 2026) and continues to operate independently under its own name. If you run a Deere-heavy fleet that may be an advantage; if you run mixed OEM iron, factor in the ownership.

Motive, Geotab, and Verizon Connect are telematics-first platforms with maintenance modules attached. Strong for trucking and driver safety, weaker for equipment-hour-based maintenance on non-road machines.

If you need deeper maintenance, not more tracking

Torgix is Equipment Intelligence for equipment-intensive operators. It covers the maintenance work Fleetio does and adds two things fleet tools generally do not: a true cost of ownership per asset (labor, parts, fuel, downtime, utilization rolled up automatically), and parts ordering built into the work order through a 1.4 million-part catalog. Flat tier pricing from $99/month, unlimited users at every tier. Best fit is construction, marine, environmental services, and aviation operators with mixed owned equipment. Not the right pick for a pure on-road trucking fleet.

Simply Fleet positions directly as the lower-cost Fleetio alternative, focused on preventive maintenance, inspections, work orders, and parts. Good for smaller fleets where budget is the binding constraint.

AUTOsist is maintenance-first and deliberately simple, with optional GPS. Suits small mixed-asset operations that want records and reminders without a platform rollout.

RTA Fleet Management is long-established and strong for in-house shops and public sector or municipal fleets. More traditional interface; on-premise options available.

If inspections and compliance are the real problem

Whip Around does digital DVIRs and inspections that turn driver phone input into maintenance tickets. Permanent free tier for a single asset. The right answer when failed inspections, not maintenance scheduling, are what keeps you up at night.

HeavyVehicleInspection (HVI) covers inspection and compliance workflows for heavy vehicles specifically.

The honest caveat

When Fleetio is still the right answer

If your fleet is predominantly on-road vehicles, if you are already invested in Fleetio's integration ecosystem, or if you need a large and mature user community for hiring and support, Fleetio remains a strong choice. It is a good product, and switching costs are real. The case for moving is strongest when your assets are heavy equipment rather than vehicles, when per-asset pricing has become a budgeting problem, or when parts procurement sits outside your maintenance system.

01 · Fleetio is a good product. If you run trucks, vans and pickups, it may be the right product, and this video, made by Torgix, one of its competitors, will not pretend otherwise. But if you are searching for Fleetio alternatives, it is usually because your operation is not really a vehicle fleet. It is heavy equipment. And that is a different problem.

02 · The pattern behind the search is consistent. Excavators and loaders run on engine hours, and you want preventive maintenance triggered by hours, not odometer miles. You want cost of ownership per machine driving repair or replace decisions, not sitting in a report. You want parts sourcing inside the work order. And you want the yard crew in the system without counting seats. Fleetio prices per vehicle, roughly four to ten dollars per vehicle per month as of August 2026, which is fair and published. The gap is not price. It is that off road equipment economics is not the core engine.

03 · The honest alternatives map. If you want hardware and software from one vendor, Samsara and Tenna, both quote priced, and Tenna is now a John Deere company, so ask the neutrality question if you run mixed iron. If you are construction and want telematics agnostic cost analytics, Clue, quote gated. If your real need is general maintenance and facilities, MaintainX and UpKeep, per user. And if you want cost, maintenance and parts in one system at a published price, that is Torgix, and yes, that is us.

04 · What Torgix does differently, in thirty seconds. Every cost lands on the machine that spent it, and compresses into cost per hour. Hour based preventive maintenance. A work order that sources the exact fit part from a one point four million part catalog. Rental revenue tracking for machines you rent out. Published fleet sized pricing from ninety nine dollars a month, unlimited named users.

05 · The fair test is your own fleet. Take one machine you suspect is bleeding money, put its year of costs into any alternative you evaluate, and see which system can tell you its cost per hour and what to do about it. The full comparison, including where Fleetio wins, is linked below. Torgix.

Common questions

Fleetio alternatives, answered

What is the best Fleetio alternative for construction equipment?
For construction and other equipment-intensive operations, the main options are Torgix (cost-of-ownership tracking and built-in parts ordering, flat pricing), Tenna (telematics plus maintenance, now owned by John Deere), and HCSS Equipment360 (strongest if you already run HCSS for bidding and job costing).
Is there a free Fleetio alternative?
Whip Around has a permanent free tier limited to one asset and one user. Free tiers generally cap assets rather than features, so they suit very small fleets or trials rather than production use.
Why do teams leave Fleetio?
The three reasons that come up most often are per-asset pricing as the fleet grows, heavy equipment workflows that are less native than for on-road vehicles, and parts procurement living outside the maintenance system.
Does Fleetio have built-in parts ordering?
Fleetio manages parts and inventory and connects to suppliers through integrations rather than ordering from a catalog inside the work order. Confirm current capabilities on Fleetio's website.
How much does Fleetio cost compared with the alternatives?
Fleetio prices per asset; most CMMS alternatives price per user, roughly $20 to $69 per user per month across entry and mid tiers. Torgix starts at $99/month on tiers sized by fleet, with unlimited users at every tier. Which is cheaper depends on your asset count and headcount, so run both against your own numbers.
